You know your business is unique. So why does the press keep telling the same story?
Blogs, TikToks, “keys to my success” stories – it’s all the same. The brilliant entrepreneur has a life-changing idea. An awestruck venture capitalist begs to be allowed to invest millions. After breakneck growth (fueled by still more millions) and a few strategic would-be crises that only serve to strengthen the business, the company and founder are soon worth billions.
It’s overwhelming. And you know who it overwhelms? Real business owners. The ones who knew starting a company would be hard, but not quite this hard; the people whose to-do list reads like a catalog of all the things no one wants to do; the people who dream all too frequently of giving up, but don’t because they know they’re doing something special with people they really like; the people who are so proud of what their company’s accomplished.
But instead of pride, there’s confusion and loneliness. Confusion because they’re not following the script. Loneliness because no one else really understands how hard it is, how satisfying, how this is the only thing they want to be doing.
Until now. We formed Paddling Furiously to be the community you’re looking for, the people who get it, who understand how hard it is and why you keep going. The ones who share your frustrations and rise above them every day (okay, most days). The ones you can ask – really ask – for advice.
This is the place to find those people and ask those questions. It’s a community of entrepreneurs, each on their own, but no longer quite so alone.
So come. Learn from others. Share your knowledge. Join us!
